Abstract: We experimentally demonstrated a fast infrared (IR) radiation sensor. It is capable of measuring IR radiation independently from the environmental temperature fluctuations. Experimental work shows that this IR detection prototype have strong conveniences (fast response and reliability in harsh environment) compared to previous detectors which makes it a very good option for early fire detection systems. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.
