dc.description.abstractWind data which belong to the three different points on Izmir Institute of Technology campus area but has different time intervals have been used to evaluate the wind power potential on this area which has a complex terrain. The results showed that, this region has significant wind power potential and it is suitable for building a wind farm that has capacity factor over 42%. Mean wind speeds at station which has higher priority with 70 meters of height have been found 8.17 m/s at 50 m height and 8.63 m/s at 80 m height. The prevailing wind direction has also been found as north direction. WAsP and GH WindFarmer software have been used to evaluate the wind statistics and maximize the energy yield by taking into account of noise and visual constraints. Wind turbines which have 2500 kW nominal power have been microsited at the most efficient locations on the wind energy density map. Eighteen turbines with a total capacity of 45 MW were located on the selected sites. The estimated annual net energy productions of the wind turbines have been calculated as 167 GWh/year.en
