Dil-toplum İlişkisi Açısından Türkiye’de 1940 Sonrası Dil Tartışmaları Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

Bir toplumdaki siyasî, sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik alanlardaki değişimler bir diğerine yansır. Toplumda meydana gelen bu türlü değişimler dilde de kendini gösterir ve dili değişken kılar. Bu sebeple dilden bağımsız toplumu, toplumdan bağımsız dili düşünmek imkânsızdır. Türkçenin tarihî seyrine bakıldığında ise Cumhuriyet dönemine, dil tartışmalarının damgasını vurduğu görülür. Türkiye?de dil tartışmaları Osmanlı İmparatorluğu?nun modernleşme süreciyle başlar, ardından Cumhuriyet?in uluslaşma süreciyle devam eder. Bunun neticesinde bu dönem Türkçe tartışmaları lengüistik olmaktan ziyade modernleşme sürecindeki politik duruşlara göre belirlenmiştir. Bu makalede dile “toplumsal bir olgu” olarak yaklaşılarak söz konusu dönemde dil, toplum ve kültür arasındaki sıkı ancak karmaşık ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmaktadır.

A society of political, social, cultural and economic fields is reflected in the changes from one to another. Manifests itself in this kind of language changes that occur in society and makes the language receptive to be variable. For this reason, it is impossible to think on language or society independently of each other. The historical period of modern Turkish Republic is considered through the language discussions which happened at that time. The modernization process from Ottoman to Turkish Republic began from exactly that language discussion and later it continued in the process of nationalization. As the result of that period the political and economical changes were more rather than at linguistic.
